Acclaimed organist Damin Spritzer will present the annual Donia Organ Recital at 快猫短视频 on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
鈥淪pritzer plays with enormous sensitivity and musicianship鈥� the music comes alive under her touch!鈥� the AAM Journal has said. Spritzer is known for her wide-ranging programs, and received five stars from Choir & Organ Magazine for her ability to 鈥渟erve instrument and music well.鈥�
A native of Washington and Oregon, Spritzer is area chair and associate professor of organ at the University of Oklahoma and Artist-in-Residence for Cathedral Arts at Saint Matthew鈥檚 Episcopal Cathedral in Dallas. She has performed in Israel, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Norway, France, England, Belgium, Iceland and throughout the United States.
She has released seven critically acclaimed CDs for Raven Recordings recorded in France, the United States and England. She publishes an ongoing series of critical editions of the music of R.L. Becker.
Devoted to researching and performing unknown and underrepresented composers as well as music by women composers, she serves active roles with the Association of Anglican Musicians, the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society; is a member of the Society of Women Organists and the American Theatre Organ Society; and is a supporting member of Organ Media Foundation and Pipedreams.
Her Doctor of Musical Arts degree is from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas; her Master of Music degree in organ performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York; and her Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio.
The recital is made possible through the generous support of the college鈥檚 Tom Donia Memorial Organ Fund. The fund was created in 1990 by the family and friends of Donia, a 1971 Hope graduate who died in 1990. The director of communications for the American Red Cross, Donia had a lifelong interest in music and loved the pipe organ in particular.
