The 快猫短视频 Great Performance Series will feature Le Consort, a baroque chamber ensemble from France, on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.

BBC Music Magazine has called the highly regarded young ensemble 鈥淩avishing, exhilarating, and uniquely beautiful.鈥

Le Consort consists of four musicians who interpret the trio sonata repertoire with enthusiasm, sincerity and modernity.  The dialogue between the two violins and the basso continuo (harpsichord and cello) displays a wealth of contrasts between vocality, sensuality and virtuosity.

鈥淏rilliant throughout, daring, sensual, Le Consort delights us,鈥 Diapason has said.

The ensemble鈥檚 performance at 快猫短视频 will explore the subtleties of the English baroque as influenced by Italian virtuosity. Three composers will be under the limelight: Henry Purcell; Nicolas Matteis; and Miss Philharmonica, a mysterious female composer who published her sonatas in 1715. The performance also includes some of the most popular works of Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach and Arcangelo Corelli.

The overall musical journey aims to delight and surprise by offering familiar music alongside some genuine discoveries.
